New UF Homecoming & Gator Growl Season Approaches as Finals Begin
University of Florida’s Homecoming & Gator Growl 2019 finishes the spring semester with the introduction of its new theme, its date release, an on-campus scavenger hunt and a ticket announcement.
UF Homecoming & Gator Growl is a festive weeklong celebration of Gator tradition as UF students, alumni and the Gainesville community embrace school spirit throughout the Swamp.
The new theme is inspired by authentic UF traditions that represent why Gainesville is Gator country. UF Homecoming & Gator Growl wants to highlight the unique qualities that define what it means to be a Florida Gator in the swampy bayous of the SEC.
Gator Growl, which is the largest student-run pep rally in the nation, will take place on Oct. 4 on Flavet Field. The Homecoming football game will be against the Auburn Tigers on Oct. 5.
On April 19, a campus-wide scavenger hunt will give students the opportunity to win a special prize. Seven lucky students who collect the marked UF Homecoming & Gator Growl stickers spread across campus will be able to exchange the sticker in room 3160 on the third floor of J. Wayne Reitz Union for a prize.
“UF Homecoming & Gator Growl was created to unite people who are passionate about orange and blue,” Corben Champoux, producer of Gator Growl 2019, said. “I’m excited because this year’s Growl will focus on the traditions, old and new, that define the Gator Nation. ”
Gator Growl ticket sales will begin in May around the same time as Preview. Stay tuned on social media (@HCGatorGrowl) for updates on tickets, new merchandise and talent.
