The Gator Gallop Tradition

UF Homecoming weekend kicks off with the Suntrust Gator Gallop! This annual two-mile fun run allows Gators to experience UF’s campus through the scenery of University Avenue by running, walking and jogging. As of right now, this year’s Gator Gallop will take place on Oct. 2 at 11:15 a.m.

Following the homecoming parade on Friday, Gators from across the nation run alongside alumni, students, faculty and family, to celebrate the beginning of the homecoming festivities.

The fun run begins at the James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track, which is the home of the Gator Track & Field program. Gator Gallop participants finish at the Homecoming Festival, where they can enjoy the celebration while fueling back up with  free water, snacks and more.

Gator Gallop welcomes participants of all ages. Students, families, alumni, faculty and staff, and even their pets, can either run or walk while they follow the Homecoming Parade. HCGG will have cheer squads on the race course to encourage participants. This is our favorite way to practice hyping our Gator athletes before the big Homecoming showdown on Saturday.

Come take part in this year’s fun! Pre-registration for Gator Gallop will open up later this summer. Keep an eye out on our website and social media for more updates! Let’s keep the traditions running.
