Of A Revolution
Of A Revolution, otherwise known as O.A.R., has been selected as the 2009 Musical Act at Gator Growl, on October 16th. The band has been around since 1996, and is widely popular among all age groups. The band is in a classical rock/pop rock genre, and all songs are appropriate for the entire family.
The Gator Growl staff is very optimistic about this year’s show. The addition of O.A.R. to Dana Carvey’s Gator Growl headline promises to make the show, in matching with the theme, truly legendary. O.A.R. was a choice made to bring entertainment value to all members of the Gator community: students, faculty, and alumni.
SNL legend and popular stand-up comedian Dana Carvey has been selected to perform as the comedic talent for the 2009 Gator Growl show. For 7 years, Dana Carvey was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1986 to 1993. He has mastered multiple celebrity impersonations, and often would perform in the ever popular SNL skit "Celebrity Jeopardy." Carvey was even offered the job of hosting the "Late Night" show on CBS, but turned the job down to Conan O’ Brien for a career in the movie industry and as a stand-up comedian. Carvey is also widely known for his role as Garth in the movie "Wayne’s World."
Producer Matt Sloan said he is optimistic about the show and the opportunity to work with Dana Carvey. The Gator Growl staff feels that Dana Carvey’s popularity will span a wide-range of audience members’ preferences, appealing to both students and alumni as a well known comedian and SNL star.
Carvey was selected in the surveying process, as one of the two most popular names to appear.
