The Suntrust Gator Gallop, which is our annual two-mile fun run, kicks off the UF Homecoming & Gator Growl festivities as students celebrate the Gators in preparation of the Homecoming football game. This year’s Gator Gallop will take place on Oct. 4 at 9:30 am.
Gator Gallop welcomes participants of all ages. Students, families, alumni, faculty and staff, and even their pets, can either run or walk while they follow the Homecoming Parade. HCGG will have cheer squads on the race course to encourage participants.
“Gallop is unique because it has such a fun family atmosphere,” said Brittany McGivern, the Director of Gator Gallop. “There are so many young future Gators that run and parents that love to support.”
The fun run begins at the James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track, which is the home of the Gator Track & Field program. Participants have the opportunity to experience UF in a new light as they run on University Avenue, which borders the north edge of campus. Gator Gallop participants finish at the Homecoming Festival, where they can receive free water, snacks and more.
HCGG is eager to cheer on both new and returning runners this year. To participate in Gator Gallop, you can pre-register on our website or do the same-day registration between 7:45 am and 9:15 am. Pre-registration will open later this summer. Let’s keep the tradition running!
