For this year’s homecoming game, the Gators will take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Swamp on Oct. 3. This is no new rivalry, with the match dating all the way back to October 21st, 1911.
Since that first game that ended in a 6-6 tie, the Gators have led the series with 28 wins, 9 losses, and 3 ties.
Although the rivalry is not filled with richly competitive history or hotly contested games, it is always an important deciding factor for the SEC East. Beating the other team often means more than just bragging rights; it means the chance to play in the SEC Championship game and have a shot at the College Football Playoffs.
With two seasons including a 2018-2019 winning streak against South Carolina under his belt, Head Coach Dan Mullen has proven that he has what it takes to put them back in their place and secure a Homecoming win for The Gator Nation.
The Gators have a record of 15-2 against the Gamecocks at home, so there is no doubt that they will bring the heat. After a full week of HCGG events full of school spirit, fans from across the Gator Nation will be sure to show up and bring the hype that will electrify the Swamp.
